Get to know the Lee Valley Wildlife Discovery Centre
At the end of 2022, a brand new visitor attraction opened its doors in the Lee Valley Regional Park, adding yet another excellent attraction to the endless list of things to do in the area during your visit to Roydon Marina Village.
The Lee Valley Regional Park is a stunning 10,000 acre area located outside London and was built to act as a ‘green lung’ for the London area, allowing nature to thrive and giving residents of the capital a place to escape to. It’s a community focused area, with a whole host of exciting activities including white water sports, walks and now the Lee Valley Wildlife Discovery Centre.
The centre acts as an information hub to allow visitors to learn more about the natural Lee Valley landscape and it’s resident wildlife, across the 26 mile long park area. The centre opened on the 3rd of December 2022 and boasts a range of new and exciting facilities that aim to keep visitors entertained and educated for years to come, which is why here at Roydon Marina Village, we think this is a place you simply must visit during your stay here!
It is worth noting that at the time of writing this blog, with Coronavirus restrictions in place, visitors are currently unable to visit the wildlife centre and we will advise anyone who is planning a visit, to first of all check their local restrictions allow them to and secondly, to check the centre is operating and open at the time of your visit! All visitors should also adhere to local social distancing and COVID guidelines, which includes keeping 2m apart from others, only travelling within your bubble and wearing a face covering in public spaces.
The centre is fully accessible with ramps into the building and a lift to allow visitors to explore both floors of the complex. It even offers a full, 360 degree panoramic view of the park from a vantage point that really does allow you to absorb and enjoy the local area, which is something that has become more important during the Coronavirus pandemic, according to Shaun Dawson, Lee Valley Regional Park’s Chief Executive, who told inyourarea.co.uk:
“The pandemic has shown us how much people value open space and the ability to get close to nature. This venue will provide everyone from seasoned birdwatchers to curious families with the opportunity to explore this beautiful part of the country which is full of stunning wildlife and habitats all year long. We’ve worked hard to make sure all measures are in place so that people can enjoy this beautiful centre safely and better understand the rich wildlife and nature in the Lee Valley.”
